Many smaller railway stations still lack in accessibility for people in wheelchairs or with prams. Prorail, owner of the Dutch stations, set out a tender for a batch of 13 stations. The tender proposal included three very different locations. For a city station in Eindhoven we proposed minor alterations that do not only solve the accessibility but improve the recognisability and wayfinding as well. The last being lost through many unrelated alterations in the past. For the country stations of Heeze and Wolfheze the accessibility was solved with adding elegant and slender detailed traverses. In Heeze the traverse was integrated with the rational architecture of the existing platform shelters. In Wolfheze the traverse restored the focus on the monumental station while making the access to the platforms saver by separating it from the city railway crossing.
